Though the title may sound provocative, but the intent of the book was not to see how the world would be if Islam had never existed, rather to examine east-west antagonisms and consider if they would still exist without its influence. BUT, to say Indian Civilization is unrecognizable without the Mughal elements is rather far fetched and very arrogant. The Indian Civilization stretches way back and its mass contribution towards civilization itself are immense! The author certainly didn't get that chapter right.
